What Is Tekashi69’s Net Worth?

With a net worth estimated at $500 thousand, Tekashi69 is an American rapper, social media figure, and convicted criminal. Known for being one of the world’s most polarizing artists, he has stirred controversy through both his music and personal conduct. In 2015, he admitted guilt to a felony for utilizing a child in a sexual performance. Following his 2018 arrest on charges related to racketeering, weapons, drugs, and conspiracy to commit murder, he agreed to testify against former gang allies in exchange for a reduced two-year sentence. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he was released early and placed under house arrest.

In his relatively short career thus far, Tekashi has accumulated considerable financial gains. He reportedly inked multiple contract and appearance deals, potentially worth tens of millions collectively. The upcoming paragraph will delve deeper into Tekashi’s finances.

Financial Issues

It’s candidly true that tracking Tekashi69’s finances on a monthly basis can be quite challenging. Undoubtedly, he’s secured several multimillion-dollar contracts for records and concerts. Additionally, his streaming royalties have garnered millions, largely through his YouTube channel, which boasts 20 million followers and over 5 billion views.

However, with his two-year prison sentence, Tekashi’s career came to a significant halt.

In March 2022, he filed documents in court asserting severe financial difficulties stemming from a lack of income due to his stalled career. He indicated that he was receiving no streaming royalties and was unable to earn through touring.

His filing specifically asserted:

Right now, I am struggling to make ends meet. I do not know if I will ever command the kind of advances I was paid before my arrest and my career stalled.

These documents were part of a civil lawsuit initiated by two former associates, where he further claimed that proceeding with the lawsuit could lead to his “bankruptcy.”

A month after this, Tekashi69 shared a video on Instagram displaying several million dollars in cash and at least a million dollars’ worth of vehicles:

The day following his video post on Instagram, Tekashi made an appearance on “TMZ Live,” where Harvey Levin directly questioned him about flaunting cash while also telling a judge about his financial struggles. Here’s how the conversation unfolded:

Harvey Levin:

You owe around a million dollars in restitution, and I know you’ve told the judge you just don’t have it.

His co-host then interjected:

Correct, and I believe your attorney mentioned potential bankruptcy filings.

Then Harvey inquired:

So, you’re spending two million dollars. Aren’t you at risk for having that money confiscated?

Tekashi responded:

I ain’t got it right now. I don’t have it. That was just prop money.

Early Life

Born Daniel Hernandez on May 8, 1996, Tekashi69 originated from Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York. His mother hails from Mexico, while his father is from Puerto Rico. He didn’t meet his father until the age of nine, having believed previously that his father was deceased. In truth, Daniel Sr. was imprisoned due to a heroin addiction.

Later on, Daniel Sr.’s father would assert that the mother’s family hindered his visits with Daniel Jr., even going as far as tearing up the letters he sent from prison.

Financial difficulties plagued the family, particularly following the tragic shooting death of Daniel’s stepfather on the family home’s steps in 2010 when Daniel was just 14. This loss inflicted severe psychological trauma on him, necessitating therapy to cope with PTSD and depression. During this period, he also started misbehaving in school, which led to his expulsion in the 8th grade. After leaving school, Daniel took on a job at a grocery store to alleviate financial burdens on his family.

Rap Career

At the age of 16, Daniel embarked on his rapping journey. A pivotal moment occurred when he encountered the CEO of a record label while working at a Brooklyn bodega. This executive, Peter “Righteous P” Rogers, managed a label known as Hikari-Ultra and motivated Daniel to start releasing his original songs.

His debut track, aptly named “69,” premiered in 2014, followed by several other singles that year. Over the next three years, Daniel, who later embraced the stage name Tekashi 6ix9ine, produced a collection of albums and videos that garnered him moderate fame within the underground rap community. Following the success of 2018’s “Dummy Boy,” Tekashi69 launched his sophomore album, “TattleTales,” in 2020, which made its debut at #4 on the U.S. “Billboard” 200.

Success

In 2018, Tekashi69 released his first mixtape, “Day69.” His initial single “Gummo” achieved success by reaching #6 on the US Rap chart, #7 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and #12 on the “Billboard” Hot 100, earning a Gold certification. Additionally, 6IX9INE’s single “Kooda” also received Gold certification, peaking at #29 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart and #50 on the “Billboard” Hot 100. His collaboration on the single “Keke” (featuring Fetty Wap and A Boogie wit da Hoodie) climbed to #20 on the US Rap chart, #22 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and #43 on the “Billboard” Hot 100.

Reported Record Deals

6IX9INE has boasted on social media about various record and management deals. In January 2018, he claimed in a now-deleted Instagram post to have inked a $7.5 million record deal. Just a month later, he alleged a $15 million management deal with Birdman’s RICHGANG company. A month thereafter, he announced a $4.9 million endorsement deal with a headphone company. However, several industry insiders we contacted indicated there is no proof that these deals are genuine.

$10 Million Deal

In October 2019, Tekashi secured a confirmed record deal with the company 10K Projects, purportedly worth at least $10 million, which includes two forthcoming albums, one in English and another in Spanish.

GlobalStreamNow Deal

In July 2020, Tekashi announced a $5 million deal with the live-streaming platform GlobalStreamNow. This agreement pertains to a virtual performance scheduled for September 5, 2020.

Arrested numerous times, Tekashi69 faced legal trouble beginning in 2015 when he pled guilty to a felony charge for involving a minor in a sexual performance. He received probation for three years and was exempt from being registered as a sex offender, provided he refrained from posting explicit content online and completed his GED. However, he ultimately did not succeed in passing the GED test. Later, in July 2018, an arrest occurred due to an outstanding warrant for allegedly choking an individual at a Houston mall.

In 2018, he faced additional charges related to racketeering, drugs, and weapons. To evade a possible 47-year prison sentence, he agreed to testify against members of the Nine Trey Bloods gang, undergoing several days of testimony in September 2019. He revealed that the gang allowed him to act as a member as long as he financed their activities, and mentioned that following the release of “Gummo,” he averaged $60,000 monthly from YouTube royalties and performance fees.

In December 2019, as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, he entered a guilty plea.

As a result of his cooperation with the government, the judge sentenced Tekashi to just 13 months, while those he testified against now face life imprisonment.

On March 22, 2020, he sought early release due to the widespread COVID-19 virus in the prison environment. The government did not oppose his request, and he was released on April 2nd, having initially been scheduled to exit in August 2020.

In March 2023, reports emerged of an assault against Tekashi in a steam room at an LA Fitness gym located in Palm Beach County, Florida. Social media shared videos capturing the incident, which resulted in facial cuts and abrasions; one suspect has thus far pleaded not guilty.

Release

On May 8, 2020, Tekashi debuted his single “Gooba” along with a music video that quickly broke the record for the most views in the first 24 hours for a hip-hop video on YouTube, achieving 40 million views in that time frame. This surpassed Eminem’s 2018 record of 38 million views for “Killshot.”

Within a week, “Gooba” had accumulated over 150 million views.

On the same day, May 8th, Tekashi69 hosted a live Instagram session that attracted over two million viewers simultaneously—this broke the previous record by more than 1.7 million.

Claiming earnings of $2 million from “Gooba” within less than a week across various revenue streams including YouTube ads and Spotify royalties, Tekashi also announced plans to donate 10% of these profits to charitable causes.

Personal Life

Just weeks before his 2018 imprisonment, Tekashi began a relationship with Rachel “Jade” Watley. He has a daughter, born in October 2015, with Sara Molina, in addition to another daughter born in November 2018 with Marlayna M.

Fluent in Spanish, Tekashi has recorded songs in the language, including “Bebe,” “Mala,” “Yaya,” and “Bori.” He also suffers from asthma.

Upon his release, Tekashi moved to a humble residence in Lido Beach. After his location was disclosed by a neighbor, he relocated to Water Mill in New York, residing in an 8,500-square-foot house overlooking a tree farm. At that time, the property was listed for rent at $55,000.
